Specializing in Gender, Dissociation, and EMDR
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Georgie Kelly, and my pronouns are they/them/theirs. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (#9136). I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I have a Master of Arts in Counseling, specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from the University of San Diego. My experience in the field of mental health spans over a 12 years. I have been in private practice for the past decade, working almost exclusively with the trans and nonbinary communities. I identify as nonbinary/transmasculine and queer. If you would like to know more about my identities, please feel free to ask.
My previous positions included working at the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center. I worked with sexual assault survivors on a hotline and on a walk-in basis for in-person counseling. At Center for Community Solutions, I counseled a diverse group of clients, including children, who were survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. At Casa de Amparo, I led group and individual counseling sessions for foster youth aged 13-18 in a group home setting. I worked at MiraCosta College and provided short-term mental health support for students with a wide variety of issues. I also worked with K-12th grade youth for over 15 years in after-school settings as a volunteer and support staff.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, humanistic, and strengths-based. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desenitization and Reprocessing), which is typically a trauma treatment, and can be used to address several other concerns in therapy. Many of my clients who have experienced trauma also have symptoms of dissociation, up to and including plurality and dissociative systems of parts or headmates. I am very passionate about working with systems and facilitating trauma recovery and healing for them.
I provide a safe space for you to explore your authentic self, and I will join you on your journey of discovery to see where it takes you. I prioritize being trauma-informed in everything I do, and I feel very comfortable talking about sex and sexuality. I am firmly sex-positive, polyamory-aware, and kink-friendly.
I also provide educational presentations on gender-related topics. If you are interested, please email me at Georgie K @ Join On Your Journey .Com to inquire as to my availability and fees.
