Our Statement on Conversion "Therapy" as of 3/31/2026:
At Joining You on Your Journey Therapy, we do not condone or perform conversion "therapy" as this has been proven to be harmful and is banned and/or not supported by major health organizations, including the American Counseling Association (ACA), World Health Organization (WHO), American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), American Psychiatric Association (APA), American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), American Medical Association (AMA), United States Professional Association for Transgender Health (USPATH), and many others.
"ACA stands against conversion therapy because there is no credible scientific data to support its effectiveness. Furthermore, extensive research has demonstrated that conversion therapy is a harmful and damaging practice for clients, often resulting in psychological trauma and distress."

"NASW’s official policy, outlined in Social Work Speaks, affirms that sexual identity, gender identity, and gender expression are fundamental and irrefutable aspects of personal identity. Conversion therapy undermines these core aspects and should have no place in social work." (https://www.socialworkers.org/News/News-Releases/ID/3371/NASW-Gravely-Concerned-by-Supreme-Court-Decision-on-Conversion-Therapy-Ban)
"The American Psychiatric Association opposes the practice of “reparative” or conversion therapies that are based on the a priori assumption that diverse sexual orientations and gender identities are mental illnesses. APA encourages psychotherapies which affirm individuals’ sexual orientation and gender identities."

"The AACAP asserts that such “conversion therapies” (or other interventions imposed with the intent of promoting a particular sexual orientation and/or gender as a preferred outcome) lack scientific credibility and clinical utility. Additionally, there is evidence that such interventions are harmful. As a result, “conversion therapies” should not be part of any behavioral health treatment of children and adolescents. However, this in no way detracts from the standard of care which requires that clinicians facilitate the developmentally appropriate, open exploration of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression, without any pre-determined outcome."

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
We aim to serve a diverse population of individuals of all ages, couples, and families by providing human-affirming care through an anti-oppression lens. We recognize that everyone we encounter in this setting is in need of compassion, support, and advocacy, and we intend on providing this within a safe space for each of our clients. We specialize in supporting people who dissociate; trans, nonbinary and gender questioning communities; neurodivergent people; relationship diversity including ethical non-monogamy (ENM) and polyamory; many forms of identity exploration; and we provide EMDR to people who have experienced trauma and/or feel stuck in their lives.
We are firmly sex positive, kink friendly, ENM-affirming, trauma-informed, and strengths-based.
We join our clients on their journeys, wherever that will take them--clients leading and therapists guiding, in step along the way.
